Three things to understand about “Impartation”

The impartation of the gifts and the anointing of God is a very real and important work of God in the life of every believer. We read in the Bible when Paul reminds Timothy about the impartation that took place when he had laid his hands upon him. I remember the times in my own life when the impartations of God took place in my life.

However here are THREE key things that one must remember:

1. Impartation does not happen when you run after famous preachers to lay their hands upon you. I did it many times, and nothing ever happened. Finally I gave up on running after people and instead, spent time at the feet of Jesus, for Him to touch me.

2. No preacher, no matter how great he is, has the ability to unilaterally impart a gift or anointing upon your life at will. There is no such thing as an "anointing to impart" to others and no man or woman carries it as a "gift" to dispense around as he pleases. It is nothing more than one of the goofy elements born out of the charismatic movement.

3. Impartation depends largely upon your own hunger after Jesus, and your burning desire and cry of your heart to be used by Him. God will respond to that hunger of your heart, and BOOM! He will touch you. He will orchestrate the laying on of hands, about who, where, and when He choses to do it; but then sometimes the laying on of hands may not even be necessary. God can touch you where you are, in your place of prayer or when you are in His Word. He knows where you are and can touch you.

I have experienced both in my life, the times when God has caused my paths to cross with an anointed man or woman of God who has laid hands on me and I KNEW that the Lord had changed me. Then there were the times when I was at the feet of Jesus, crying out to Him in my hunger for more of Him, and He touched me without any other person being present there.

So let us live hungry and with a burning desire for Jesus. He WILL touch you!
