THE PENTECOSTAL GOSPEL

Sometime after I received the Baptism with the Holy Spirit in Uppsala Sweden in early 1980, I heard about a Norwegian evangelist called Terje Berntzen. There was such a buzz going on about the mighty things that God was doing in his meetings. I had a deep hunger for more of Jesus, and so I went to hear him when he came to preach at the Filadelfia Pentecostal church in Uppsala.

I was deeply moved and inspired by what I saw: God was truly touching people with His Holy Spirit. Large crowds were being saved, healed from diseases, and delivered in his services. Sinners came in numbers, as did Christians from traditional denominations.

They were all there because they were hungry for God.

Reporters from the major secular newspapers in Sweden followed the evangelist around and reported on his meetings. They described his preaching as, "Pingstevangelium om Jesu makt över synd, sjukdomar och onda andar" in Swedish.

In English, that would be translated as, "The Pentecostal Gospel of the power of Jesus over sin, diseases, and demons.”

These were the words of secular newspapers.

Over the years, I would hear the expression "The Pentecostal Gospel" over and over again.

And that is what the Gospel is. It is the Gospel of the cross and the blood of Jesus; the Gospel of the death and the resurrection of Jesus. It is about His total victory over sin, diseases and demons. It is about the fact that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and that He is coming back soon.

This is what we call the "Full gospel" or the "Pentecostal Gospel." This is the Gospel that we must always preach, and when we preach it, signs, wonders, and miracles follow the Gospel message.

We must keep the bar high and preach it with boldness. Always expect God to move with signs, wonders, and miracles whenever we preach the Gospel.

That is the Bible way, the Christianity of the Book of Acts.

We are running the final lap of the Great Commission. Let us contend for Pentecostal power and be relentless in doing the works of Jesus, as our Master said that we should.

I personally take every opportunity to consecrate myself to our Lord, and to be touched again by the Spirit of God so that we may continue to preach this Glorious Gospel that God has entrusted to us!
