The Essence of True Revival
History has shown us that JESUS, His CROSS, and His BLOOD are the central themes of all revivals and moves of the Holy Spirit.
Revival is not about spiritual manifestations or the anointing on certain preachers, but in true revival ALL things point to Jesus alone.
This is because our Lord himself said of the Holy Spirit "He shall glorify me."
So we understand that the Holy Spirit came to glorify Jesus, and that is why the person of Jesus Christ, His cross, and His blood are the central themes of every true revival and move of God.
In my almost 50 years of ministry I have had the privilege of being part of great moves of God in Asia, Eastern Europe, South America, and Africa. I have seen God shake towns and cities in places like Malawi, India, Zimbabwe, Bulgaria, Russia, Argentina, etc. The greatest observation that I have come away with from all these experiences is this:
When there is a genuine revival or a move of God, one rarely if ever hears the words "revival" or "move of God," but the one word that one hears all the time is, "Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!"
Revival never comes because people pray for this phenomenon that we call "revival" or long for revival. Revival comes when people long for Jesus. Revival comes as a result of people genuinely seeking the face of God, and then God "answers with Fire."
Also, no man can rightly call himself a "revivalist" because revival comes from the hand of God alone and cannot be brought about by any man. Man can certainly stir up people to seek the face of God, but ultimately only God can send revival.
It is important to remember that the Holy Spirit always points to Jesus, and in revival the person of Jesus is what captivates and grips the hearts of people. Their one burning desire is to know Him and to be closer to Him than ever before.
That my friends is true Holy Ghost revival. We need to be stirred up to seek the Face of Jesus.
We need to teach, preach and sing more about Jesus. We need to focus our devotional life around the person of Jesus Christ. In churches the main theme should be about Jesus and His cross.
These are the things that prepare for a genuine and lasting move of the Holy Spirit in our own lives and in our churches.
