An Imperative for Every Believer
"And, being assembled together with them, COMMANDED them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” Acts 1:4,5
Note that our Lord Jesus COMMANDED His disciples not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait until they were baptized with the Holy Ghost.
“And, being assembled together with them, COMMANDED them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” Acts 1:4,5
In other words, to be baptized with the Holy Ghost with the outward evidence of speaking with other tongues is a direct COMMAND from our Lord Jesus. It is an IMPERATIVE, and NOT an "option." Pastors and teachers must teach believers in depth about the Baptism with the Holy Ghost and with fire, and every believer should earnestly seek this wonderful gift until he receives it and speaks with other tongues. After that should come teaching on the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The Baptism with the Holy Ghost, after the experience of being born again, was the biggest life-changing factor in my life.
Here are some of the things that happened to me personally because I got baptized with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
1. It opened up the Bible to me in a way that I had never known before. I began to gain a deeper understanding of the Word of God.
2. My whole life suddenly became totally about the Lord Jesus Christ and about glorifying Him.
3. It spurred me to seek God like never before.
4. It totally revolutionized my prayer life.
5. I began to grow and to mature as a Christian and understood the heart of God in a manner that I had never known before.
6. I began to see signs, wonders, miracles, and deliverance because of the flow of the Spirit through my ministry.
7. I began to flow in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
8. I began to see many more people being saved through evangelism than ever before.
9. The Holy Spirit made the Great Commission #1 in my life, after walking with God and His Word.
10. Walking with the Holy Spirit and praying in other tongues daily over all these years has done great things for my mind, psyche, body, and my general well-being.
THESE ARE A FEW OF THE REASONS why we must teach people to receive the Baptism with the Holy Ghost, to walk with the Holy Ghost daily, and to surrender to His Lordship over our lives.
